Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 4 October 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Career Auntie. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, applications, and services (collectively, the “Services”). By using or accessing the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. Definitions

“Career Auntie”, “we”, “us”, or “our” means the operator of the Services.
“User”, “you”, or “your” means any person or entity using the Services.
“Content” means text, CVs, cover letters, analyses, recommendations, professional profiles, community job listings, referral messages and other materials generated by or submitted to the Services.
“AI” means the automated machine learning and algorithmic processes used by the Services to generate Content.

3. Account Registration

3.1. To use certain features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information and keep it up to date.
3.2. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
3.3. If you use a third-party account to access the Services, you must be authorised to use it and maintain a secure sign-in method. The external provider’s terms apply to its service.

4. Subscriptions, Credits and Payment

4.1. Plans and Billing

We offer free usage, paid top‑up credits, and paid subscription plans. Subscription billing periods vary by plan (for example, monthly for Premium and every 3 months for Unlimited). Current features, credit allocations, billing periods, and prices are shown at checkout and on our pricing page.

4.2. Automatic Renewal & How to Cancel

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. We will email you a renewal reminder a reasonable time before renewal explaining the renewal date, price, your plan, credit reset rules, and how to cancel. You can cancel auto‑renewal at any time from Account → Billing or by visiting https://www.careerauntie.com/profile?tab=subscription. Cancellation stops future renewals; your plan remains active until the end of the current period.

4.3. Subscription Payments — No Refunds

All subscription payments are non‑refundable. We do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods, unused subscription credits, plan downgrades, or cancellations. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period unless otherwise required by law.

4.4. Credit Types, Reset & Consumption Order

We use three credit types:

  • Free credits (granted monthly or via promotions)
  • Top‑up credits (one‑off purchases and customer referral rewards under Section 4.14)
  • Subscription credits (allocated per billing period to paid plans)

Credit refresh: Your subscription credits refresh when your plan renews at the end of each billing period — unused subscription credits from the previous period expire and are replaced with your plan's full allocation for the new period. Top‑up credits and valid free credits do not reset on renewal.
Consumption order: Unless stated otherwise, we deduct credits in this order: free → subscription → top‑up.

4.4A. Credit Charging & No Refunds on Failed Generations

Credits of any type (free, subscription, or top‑up) are deducted when you submit a request, immediately before AI processing starts. Provider failure, empty output, interruption, cancellation, closing, or refreshing the page does not refund that charge.

This describes automatic credit accounting. It does not remove your legal rights where a service is faulty, not provided as agreed or otherwise fails to meet applicable consumer law. Contact support to request an appropriate remedy, which may include repeat performance, a price reduction or a refund where the law requires it.

4.5. Credit Expiry

  • Subscription credits expire at the end of each billing period if unused.
  • Top‑up credits do not expire unless we state an expiry at purchase.
  • Free credits expire at the end of the month or the period stated in the offer.

Your balances and any expiry dates are shown in Account → Usage.

4.6. Top‑up Credits

You can purchase top‑up credits at any time and use them with free or paid plans. Top‑up purchases are final and non‑refundable unless required by law.

4.7. Price Changes

We may change plan prices in the future. For active subscribers, price changes take effect at the next renewal. We will notify you in advance and explain how to cancel if you do not wish to continue.

4.8. Payment Processing

Payments are handled by third‑party payment processors. By paying you agree to their terms and to keep a valid payment method on file.

4.9. Failed Payments & Retries

If a payment fails, we may attempt to charge again over a short period and will email you with a link to update your payment method. If reasonable attempts to collect payment are unsuccessful, we may cancel the subscription and leave the related invoice overdue. Access may be suspended after cancellation due to non‑payment.

4.10. Payments Requiring Confirmation (e.g., 3D Secure)

Where strong customer authentication is required, we will send you a link to confirm the payment. If a recurring payment is not confirmed within a reasonable period, we may cancel the subscription and leave the invoice as‑is.

4.11. Disputes & Chargebacks

If a card dispute is opened on a recurring payment, we may mark the subscription overdue and restrict access pending resolution.

4.12. Invoices & Reminders

We may send finalised invoices and reminders for unpaid recurring invoices. If an invoice remains overdue for a sustained period, we may keep the subscription overdue and the invoice overdue.

4.13. Unlimited Plan & Fair Usage

The Unlimited subscription provides unlimited AI generations, subject to a fair usage allowance of 45 credits per UTC calendar day and 1,350 credits per 30-day subscription period. AI actions consume different fractional credit amounts according to the action shown in the service. Combined requests consume the sum of their included actions.

  • The daily allowance resets at 00:00 UTC. The 30-day allowance is anchored to your subscription billing period. Unused allowance does not roll over.
  • Once either allowance is reached, further requests are deducted from available free and then top‑up credits; otherwise they are unavailable until the relevant allowance resets.
  • Fair‑use allowance and fallback credit charges follow the no‑refund rule in Section 4.4A.
  • The Unlimited plan is for individual, manual use only. Automated, scripted, shared, or resold access is prohibited and may result in suspension under Section 8.
  • The Unlimited plan bills every 3 months and renews automatically unless cancelled (see Section 4.2).
  • Promotional pricing, where offered, applies for as long as your subscription remains active and uninterrupted, unless the offer states otherwise.

We may adjust the fair usage limit in the future. For active subscribers, reductions take effect from the next billing period, and we will notify you in advance.

4.14. Customer Referral Rewards

This optional scheme rewards introductions of customers to Career Auntie. It is separate from employer and community job referrals in Section 9B. These customer referral provisions take effect when this update is published on 4 October 2026. Existing referrals and earned credits retain the protections in Section 4.14.8.

4.14.1. Linking a referral. A signed-in customer can find their referral code and signup link in the dashboard. A referred customer must use the link or enter the code in the checkout discount field before their first successful payment. Only one referrer can be linked to an account; that link cannot be replaced with a different code or added after payment. The referred customer must be a different person who has not previously paid for the Services, rather than an existing paying customer creating another account.

4.14.2. First-payment discount. An eligible referred customer receives 20% off their first payment. Only one discount code can apply to a purchase; referral discounts cannot be combined with other promotional codes or discounts. A subscription referral discount applies to its first payment only, not subsequent renewals. A declined or cancelled unpaid attempt does not use up the discount: the customer may retry, change the credit amount or choose a subscription before paying. A payment already processing must be resolved before a replacement checkout can proceed. A refund or payment dispute does not restore the first-payment discount.

4.14.3. When a reward is earned. The referrer receives 20 top-up credits once per eligible referred customer, after we confirm either:

  • a successful, non-zero payment for the Unlimited subscription; or
  • a single credit top-up with more than £15 paid in GBP after discounts.

Exactly £15 does not qualify. For example, a £20 top-up reduced by 20% to £16 qualifies. Separate smaller top-ups cannot be added together to meet the threshold, but a later qualifying purchase can earn the reward if an earlier purchase did not. A signup, trial, unpaid checkout or zero-total purchase does not earn credits; a later paid Unlimited renewal can qualify. Further purchases and renewals cannot earn another reward for the same referred customer. Payment confirmation and eligibility checks must complete before credits are added.

4.14.4. Using and tracking rewards. Referral rewards are added to the referrer's top-up balance, are labelled as referral credits and do not expire. They can be used for Services that accept credits, with the consumption order in Section 4.4. They have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn, sold or transferred to another account. The dashboard shows referral totals, credits earned and reversals. An in-app notification confirms credits added, including any adjustment under Section 4.14.5.

4.14.5. Refunds, disputes and corrections. We may reverse the original referral reward if the qualifying payment is disputed, fully refunded or otherwise no longer qualifies. For a top-up, a partial refund also removes eligibility if the amount retained is £15 or less. A reversal deducts no more than the original reward from the referrer's available top-up balance, which may include purchased credits. Any shortfall is offset against future referral rewards; it is not a cash charge and does not reduce free or subscription credits. The adjustment appears in referral totals and credit records. A reversed reward does not make the same referral eligible for another reward. Contact support if you think a reward is missing or a reversal is incorrect, including where a payment dispute is resolved in your favour. Nothing here limits either customer's statutory rights to challenge a payment or obtain a refund.

4.14.6. Fair participation and sharing. Self-referrals, duplicate or false accounts, impersonation and attempts to obtain repeated rewards for the same person or payment are not allowed. We check account, email and payment identities. The same card cannot generate rewards for multiple referred customers or be used to refer yourself; shared payment details can therefore prevent a reward. You can ask support to review an eligibility decision. We may withhold a reward while investigating reasonable evidence of abuse and correct rewards obtained through abuse, taking proportionate action under Section 8. Do not send unsolicited referral marketing by email, text or direct message. When sharing a referral publicly, make clear that you may receive credits if someone makes a qualifying purchase. Do not claim to represent us or promise different benefits.

4.14.7. Privacy. We use referral links, account records and payment information to attribute referrals, check eligibility, prevent duplicate rewards and maintain credit records, as described in our Privacy Policy. Referrers see aggregate counts and credit totals, not the referred customer's identity, purchases or payment details. These counts may nevertheless let a referrer infer activity if they referred only one person.

4.14.8. Changes to the scheme. We may change the offer for future referrals or close it to new referrals, for example if costs change, the scheme is withdrawn or changes are needed to comply with law or address abuse. We will give reasonable advance notice of material changes and state when they take effect. The terms in place when a referral was linked continue to apply to that referral, and properly earned credits remain available, subject to the eligibility and reversal rules that applied to them. Changes will not retrospectively reduce an earned reward or introduce a new condition for an existing referral. These protections apply to this scheme notwithstanding the general change provisions in Sections 13 and 14.

5. Use of AI and AI‑Generated Content

5.1. Our Services use AI to generate Content (including CVs, cover letters, skills‑gap analyses, interview preparation materials, goal‑planning guidance, text humanisation, and other career‑related recommendations) based on the information you supply. AI‑generated Content is provided “as‑is” and may contain inaccuracies, omissions or subjective judgments.
5.1A. AI limitations: Outputs may contain inaccuracies, omissions, outdated information, biased or non‑verifiable statements, or plausible but incorrect content ("hallucinations").
5.2. You are responsible for reviewing and validating any AI‑generated Content before using it for any purpose. We do not warrant that AI‑generated Content will achieve any particular result (including job offers or interview invitations).
5.2A. Informational use only: Outputs are informational and do not constitute professional, legal, financial, HR, or career advice. You should seek appropriate professional guidance before making decisions based on outputs.
5.3. Training and Improvement: To improve and maintain our Services we may, where lawful and permitted, use de‑identified, aggregated, or anonymized versions of inputs and outputs. We will not publish your personal data in identifiable form without your consent. To exercise data rights (including deletion or restrictions), see Section 6 and our Privacy Policy.
5.4. Content Safety: You must not use the Services to generate Content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, abusive, or otherwise prohibited by our Acceptable Use policy.
5.5. High‑risk use: The Services are not designed for use in safety‑critical, medical, legal adjudication, or other high‑risk environments where errors could result in injury, death, or significant harm. You must not use the Services in such contexts.

6. Data Protection, Privacy and Your Rights

6.1. We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. The Privacy Policy explains the types of data we collect, how we use it, retention periods and your rights.
6.2. You may request access, correction, portability, restriction, or deletion of your personal data. Contact us via our support page with verification information; we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
6.3. Automated Decision‑Making: Where automated processing produces decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects, you have rights to meaningful information about the logic involved and to challenge such decisions. Contact us to discuss options.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1. Our IP: We and our licensors retain all rights, title and interest in and to the Services (including underlying software, AI models, and content we create), subject to the limited rights you are granted under these Terms.
7.2. Your Content & Outputs: You retain ownership of the original content you provide to the Service. For outputs generated by the Service you are granted ownership or a license as set out in the product terms. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and display your Content as needed to provide the features you use, respecting the relevant sharing settings. For private messages, this covers delivery and necessary storage, support, security and legal handling, not publication to unrelated users. Private career documents are not licensed for publication to other users. Uses of AI inputs and outputs for service improvement remain subject to Section 5.3 and the Privacy Policy.
7.3. Feedback: If you provide feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable license to use that feedback without restriction.

7.4. User warranties

You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights, licenses and permissions to provide inputs to the Services; that your inputs and use of outputs will comply with applicable laws and will not infringe any third‑party rights; and that you will not rely on outputs without independent review and verification.

8. Acceptable Use

8.1. You agree not to use the Services to: create false or misleading information; commit unlawful acts; infringe others' rights; distribute malware; interfere with the Services; or attempt unauthorized access.
8.2. We may restrict Content, suspend or terminate accounts for violations, taking account of the nature and seriousness of the issue and applicable law. You can report concerns or challenge an action through our support page.

Profiles, listings and messages must not involve impersonation, scams, unlawful discrimination, harassment, spam or requests for passwords or unnecessary sensitive information. Do not charge applicants for access to jobs, interviews or referrals through the Services. Respect others’ privacy and contact restrictions.

8.3. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Career Auntie and its affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (i) your inputs; (ii) your use of outputs; (iii) your breach of these Terms; or (iv) your violation of any law or third‑party rights.

9. Third‑Party Services and Links

9.1. The Services may link to or integrate with third-party services. Your use of an external service is governed by its provider’s terms and privacy notice. Our use of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

9A. Affiliate Links and Course Recommendations

9A.1. Affiliate disclosure: Some course recommendations displayed on Career Auntiecontain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and subsequently purchase a course or service, we may receive an affiliate commission at no additional cost to you.
9A.2. No influence on advice: Affiliate relationships do not influence our CV analysis, cover letter generation, or any other career advice features. Only the course recommendations section contains affiliate‑linked content.
9A.3. No endorsement or guarantee: The inclusion of a course via an affiliate link does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of quality, accuracy, availability, or fitness for purpose. We do not control third‑party course content, pricing, or availability.
9A.4. No liability for third‑party purchases: We are not a party to any transaction between you and a third‑party course provider. Any dispute regarding a course purchase must be resolved directly with the provider. We are not liable for any loss, damage, or dissatisfaction arising from purchases made through affiliate links.
9A.5. Tracking: Affiliate networks may set cookies or use other tracking technologies when you click an affiliate link. Please refer to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for further information.

9B. Community Opportunities and Referrals

This section concerns job and employer referrals. Customer referral discounts and credit rewards are covered separately in Section 4.14.

9B.1. You must work at or represent the company and be authorised to share its opportunity. Listings must be genuine, accurate and kept current. Follow applicable recruitment, confidentiality and referral-scheme rules, and only share information you have the right to disclose.

9B.2. Company affiliations are self-declared. A profile, connected account or listing does not establish that we have verified an employer, vacancy or poster’s authority. Check these details before applying or sharing information.

9B.3. Referral offers do not guarantee a response, referral, interview, employment or reward. Employers set eligibility and payment terms for their referral schemes. We do not administer or pay those rewards and are not a party to employment or referral-bonus agreements.

9B.4. Use community messages for relevant professional discussion and follow Section 8. Sharing and retention of profiles, listings and messages are explained in our Privacy Policy.

9C. Job Search and Personalised Recommendations

Listings and recommendations may be incomplete, outdated or unsuitable. Recommendations are guidance, not hiring decisions or guarantees of suitability or employment. Posters and employers make their own referral and recruitment decisions. Check relevant details before relying on a result.

10. Warranties and Disclaimers

10.1. Except as required by law, the Services and AI‑generated Content are provided “as‑is” and “as‑available” without warranties of any kind. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement.
10.2. Statutory rights: Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights or excludes, restricts or modifies any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws.

11. Limitation of Liability

11.1. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Services.
11.2. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
11.3. Our aggregate liability for claims arising from or relating to these Terms shall not exceed the amounts you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, except where such limits are unenforceable by applicable law.
11.4. Domain‑specific losses: Without limitation, we are not liable for loss of opportunities, employment prospects, or reputational harm arising from use of outputs.

12. Termination

12.1. You may request account closure at any time by contacting support. Termination does not relieve you of obligations incurred prior to termination.
12.2. We may suspend or terminate access for breach, misuse, or if required by law. Upon termination certain data may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12.3. No Refunds on Termination for Breach: If we suspend or terminate your account due to a violation of these Terms — including but not limited to fraudulent activity, abuse or manipulation of the credit or payment system, chargebacks we reasonably determine to be fraudulent or abusive, or any breach of Section 8 (Acceptable Use) — you will not be entitled to any refund of subscription fees, top‑up credits, or any other amounts paid. Any unused subscription credits, top‑up credits, and free credits will be forfeited immediately upon such suspension or termination, without compensation.

13. Changes to the Services and Features

13.1. We may add, modify, or remove features or functionality of the Services at any time. We will aim to provide notice for major changes, but are not required to do so for minor or technical changes.
13.2. If a change materially reduces the core functionality of a paid plan, we will use reasonable efforts to notify affected users and describe available options.

14. Changes to These Terms

14.1. We may revise these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will provide reasonable notice by email (if available) and/or a prominent notice on the Services, which may be given at or around the time the change takes effect for enforcement‑related or clarifying updates. For changes that significantly affect your rights or access to paid features, we will endeavour to provide advance notice where practicable. Material changes include those that materially affect your rights or access to paid features.
14.2. Continued use of the Services after the change date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Services and may cancel any paid subscription in accordance with Section 4.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

15.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Where legally required we will accept claims in appropriate jurisdictions, but courts of the United Kingdom will have exclusive jurisdiction unless otherwise required by mandatory law.

16. General

16.1. Entire Agreement: These Terms and any documents expressly incorporated by reference constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.
16.2. Severability: If any provision is held invalid, the remainder will remain in force.
16.3. Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights without restriction.
