1. Who We Are

TEKYI LTD, trading as Career Auntie (“we”, “us” or “our”), is the controller of personal information processed through our website and services (“Services”). This notice explains how we use that information and the choices and rights available to you. Our contact details are in Section 14.

2. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Services and includes:

  • Account information: name, email address, date of birth for age eligibility, account identifiers, sign-in credentials and preferences.
  • Career and profile information: CVs, work experience, skills, goals, professional profile details, links, photographs and other content you provide to our career tools.
  • Community information: job opportunities you post or save, company affiliation details, referral preferences, messages, participants and associated activity records.
  • Connected-account information: when you choose a service such as LinkedIn, information it shares with us, including your identifier, name, email and verification status, and available profile photo.
  • Transaction and support information: purchases, subscriptions, payment status and communications with us. Payment providers process card details; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Customer referral information: referral codes, the accounts linked by a referral, signup and payment records, discounts, credit rewards, reversals and reward notifications. Payment providers also supply identifiers used to check for reused payment methods; our referral anti-abuse records use a hashed identifier, not a full card number.
  • Technical and usage information: IP address, device/browser information, searches, feature usage, cookies and records used for authentication, security and abuse prevention.

We collect information from you, your use of the Services, connected providers and, where relevant, other members who include information about you in posts, messages or reports. Account and age information is required to register; other information is needed for the features you choose. Without the necessary information, we may be unable to provide that feature.

3. Purposes and Legal Bases

  • Contract: to manage your account, process purchases and provide requested services, including career content and guidance, connected accounts, profile sharing, job posting, referral conversations and customer referral discounts and rewards.
  • Legitimate interests: to personalise job suggestions, understand and improve the Services, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, handle support requests and resolve disputes, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent: for marketing and cookies or similar technologies where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligations: to meet applicable tax, accounting, data protection and other legal requirements.

Career tools may process your submitted information using AI to generate content and guidance. Connected-account information supports sign-in, account linking, ownership checks and any profile features you select. Personalised recommendations are explained in Section 11.

We send service communications about your account and use of the Services. Marketing emails require your consent or an applicable legal exception, such as the UK PECR soft opt-in for existing customers and similar services, with an opportunity to opt out at collection and in each message.

4. Sharing Your Information

Profiles, Opportunities and Conversations

Professional profiles start private. You can choose to share profile information, including an optional photo or LinkedIn link, with selected people, all signed-in members or publicly through a profile link. Selected-person access can include a referrer and can be revoked individually from your access list. Sending a referral message does not automatically share your profile. Removing someone from the list restricts access when your profile audience is set to people you choose; it does not restrict a wider members-only or public audience you later select. Community job listings are members-only by default, including existing listings. If you choose to make a listing public, visitors can search and read its details, including the full description and application link, without an account. Listing visibility is separate from your profile setting, which does not hide information you publish in a listing or send in a message.

Referral messages are shared with the conversation participants where messaging is enabled. Authorised personnel and providers may access relevant information as needed to operate the service, address reports, protect users or meet legal obligations. Private career documents, your account email and date of birth are not automatically shared through these features; take care with information you choose to include yourself. Recipients can retain or copy information already shared with them.

Customer Referral Rewards

When you claim a customer referral code or use a referral signup link, we link your account to the referrer to apply the offer and check whether a payment qualifies for a reward. We use account and payment records to prevent self-referrals, repeated rewards and other misuse, and to handle refunds and disputes. These checks use the contract and legitimate-interest purposes described above.

The referrer sees totals for referrals and credits, and notifications when rewards are added. The referral dashboard and notifications do not display the referred person’s name, email address, CV or payment details. Someone who has shared a code with only a few people may still infer who used it from changes in their totals or the timing of a reward. See the customer referral terms for the offer rules.

Service Providers

We share relevant information with the following types of providers to support the Services:

  • Cloud hosting, storage, authentication and security providers: process account information, content and technical records to operate and protect the Services.
  • AI service providers: process information submitted to our career tools to generate requested outputs.
  • Payment processors: handle payment and transaction information for purchases and subscriptions.
  • Email, communications and analytics providers: process contact and relevant usage information for service messages, permitted marketing and delivery or engagement analysis.
  • Job-data providers: receive search criteria, including relevant role and skill terms, to retrieve listings and recommendations.
  • Connected-account and image-hosting providers: receive browser and connection information when you use their sign-in services or load externally hosted profile photos.
  • Affiliate networks: process referral and transaction information when you follow affiliate links.

Providers acting on our behalf process information under applicable agreements. External services, including connected accounts, payment services, affiliate networks and employer application sites, may also use information for their own purposes under their privacy notices. For LinkedIn account features, see LinkedIn’s Privacy Policy. We may disclose relevant information where necessary to comply with law, protect rights or investigate abuse.

5. Retention and Deletion

We retain information for the purposes described in this notice. Retention takes account of the type of information, whether your account or requested history remains in use, and any outstanding support, security, dispute or legal obligations.

  • Account and career records: retained to provide your account, saved work and related services, subject to deletion requests and any applicable legal requirements.
  • Posts and conversations: retained to provide listings, saved records and conversation history. Closing a listing, stopping messages or changing visibility does not itself erase existing history or recipients’ copies. The same retention criteria and data rights apply to these records.
  • Customer referral and credit records: retained to administer the offer, maintain credit history, prevent duplicate awards and address refunds, disputes or abuse, using the retention criteria above. Dismissing a reward notification does not erase the underlying credit or referral record.
  • Temporary registration and verification details: LinkedIn signup and password-setup records have short validity periods of up to thirty minutes. They are removed following completion, use or expiry processing; background deletion may occur after a record becomes invalid.
  • Temporary export copies: kept in private storage and available to download for 24 hours after creation. An automated one-day retention rule schedules deletion; background removal may occur later. This does not delete the original account records, whose retention is described above.

You can request account closure or deletion through support. We assess requests under applicable data protection law, including any requirement to retain particular records. Backup copies may remain until replaced or removed through backup processes.

6. Security

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including authentication and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your information, and exercise rights concerning significant automated decisions. Contact support to exercise these rights. We may verify your identity and will respond within the applicable legal deadline, normally one month, explaining any permitted extension.

Your self-service export is a snapshot taken when it is created, with its creation time shown. Repeat downloads may reuse that copy for up to 24 hours and will not include later changes. You can request an updated copy after one hour, subject to temporary usage limits. For current or missing information, or to make a full access request, contact privacy support at any time. These download controls do not limit your data protection rights.

Right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including personalised job suggestions, and object to direct marketing at any time. Profile settings let you manage sharing and recommendations. You can withdraw consent through available preferences, unsubscribe links or by contacting us; withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it.

8. International Transfers

Providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, we use recognised transfer safeguards, such as adequacy arrangements, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses, and assess transfer risks. Contact support for details or a copy of relevant safeguards.

9. Children

The Services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly permit under-18s to create accounts. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information through the Services.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use essential technologies to provide the Services and optional technologies for purposes such as analytics and affiliate attribution. We request consent where required by law, and you can manage your choices through the cookie controls. Affiliate links may allow networks to attribute purchases and commissions. Third-party websites operate their own cookies and privacy controls.

11. Personalisation and Automated Processing

We use career information, including skills, experience and goals, to identify and prioritise relevant opportunities and provide personalised guidance. This may involve profiling. Personalised job recommendations are enabled by default and can be switched off in profile privacy settings.

Our career outputs and recommendations assist your decisions; they do not determine employment or employer referral outcomes. We do not currently make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you solely by automated means. If that changes, we will provide the information and safeguards required by applicable law.

Customer referral eligibility and rewards are checked automatically against the offer rules, payment status and anti-abuse signals. If you believe a referral or reward has been handled incorrectly, contact support to request a review.

12. Service Improvement

We may use aggregated or de-identified usage information, inputs and outputs to evaluate and improve the Services, where lawful. Where information remains personal data, its use is subject to the purposes, legal bases and rights described in this notice.

13. Changes to This Notice

We may update this notice as the Services and our data practices evolve. The date above identifies the latest revision. We will bring material changes to your attention and provide advance information or obtain consent where required by law.
